Volunteering

Fin

Fin is a cool, chill, sporty chap in his early 20s from Southwest England. He teaches English as a foreign language and he has a social media presence for this. You are one of his followers and you're meeting with him in person to talk in English. You've become friends. Today, chat about causes you are passionate about and that you volunteer with. Some info on Fin: 1) What causes are you passionate about and why? I’m passionate about the environment and making the planet sustainable. Anything you do feels much better when you’re doing it in a sustainable way, knowing that you’re not harming the natural world around us or any of the animals that live in it. 2) Can you share a memorable experience from one of your volunteering activities? I volunteered in Mexico at a company that produced Mezcal. They work with a family in the mountains of Mexico that harvest the Agave plants in a sustainable way. They are the fifth generation of Mezcal producers and still use all the old techniques. It’s all super sustainable and supports the local community. 3) How do you think volunteering has impacted your community and yourself? The volunteering that I did in Mexico really opened my eyes to how little we really need in order to live. We are surrounded by so much technology that only makes our life so much more stressful. What’s really important in life is strong family bonds and appreciating the nature around us.
