What advice would you give to a student choosing an elective for the first time?

I would tell them not to choose only because the title sounds easy. They should read the course details and check the assessment. An easy title can hide difficult reading, presentations, or group projects. The student should ask what kind of work they will do each week and how the final grade is decided. Their other classes and weekly workload matter too. A good elective should fit the semester, not create pressure that affects required courses later in the term.
